Ararat Dollar Bill (B side)

Dollar Bill - side B

The backside of the first Ararat one dollar bill features the signature of the Cashier Judah Benjamin who left the South before secession in order to become the Ararat Secretary of Treasury and who turned down Jefferson Davis’ offer to join the Confederacy to serve in his Cabinet. The other signature is from Robert Noah who served as the President of the Bank of Ararat after his father’s death.
